The Mini-A-Week project: introduction

Around the beginning of the summer of 2002, I realized that I hadn't made much real progress in painting, despite some occasional breakthroughs. The main problem was that I just wasn't doing much painting.
Somehow, I hit on the idea of public embarassment as the best way to get myself going. I announced to the painting world at large (as such) that I was going to paint one miniature a week for a full year. This was quickly amended to include a new interest: I was going to paint or sculpt one a week. Still later, I began adding a short piece of fiction to introduce each week's miniature.
After a year, I had finished the miniatures pictured above.
Along the way, I'd made some serious progress in both painting and sculpting. The breadth of learning made up for some loss of depth -- I was very satisfied with my work, and pleased to hear from folks who helped me along by reviewing and giving me a hand wherever needed.
As of this writing, it's fall of 2003. Since the end of the last project, I haven't done much painting or sculpting. I need something to get myself motivated. . . .
