Dire Boar
Jason Wiebe sculpted this guy for Reaper Miniatures. I like the rough fur and the attention to wart details. . . .
I painted him up starting with a coat of Reaper Volcanic Brown as a sort of a foundation for everything brown, red, or gray. I used Reaper Oiled Leather as a base for the brown fur, highlighted with Accent Tumbleweed moving gradually up into a mixture of Tumbleweed and Apple Barrel Antique White. I used GW Red Gore as a base for the fur on his back, and highlighted that with GW Blood Red, with a touch of Reaper Desert Gold mixed in for the highlights. For the face, I started with GW Regal Blue, and moved up into Apple Barrel Pewter Gray and Antique White -- the top highlights are a mixture of the three, leaning mostly towards the blue and ivory. The horns and tusks are Apple Barrel Pewter Gray and Antique White, while the tongue is GW Imperial Purple blended up into Reaper Pink. The base is a mixture of lots of brown, as is often the case. It's not quite as close to the fur color as the picture makes it appear.
