Severed hand

(week 4: 30 Nov - 6 Dec 2003)

Perhaps it is nobler to try and keep the sewers clear of trouble.  But even knowledge can be damning. . . .
Erodon stopped and gestured ahead.  On a small stone plinth lay a pale severed hand, a pool of blood at the wrist.
Their scruffy guide shuddered noticeably.  "A sacrifice," is all he would say.
The pool bore traces of a small tongue lapping, or a finger tracing the edges.

This week's piece isn't terribly ambitious, either, and it looks that much the worse for being posted so late.  Still, it was the next in line, so it's currently up.

The idea was to try and do a detailed hand that would paint up fairly well.  I came up with the sacrifice backstory as a result of my overarching theme for this MaW project, the city of Avaris.  (Currently, of course, the theme is "catch the hell up."

Another small project.  Don't worry -- the next one's a bit more ambitious and interesting.  Though a couple after that are going to be pretty rough. . . .
