land lamprey

(week 7: 21 Dec - 27 Dec 2003)

Cries went up from the wharf worker and his comrades: a too-quick maneuver from the mage telekinesing barrels had severed his hand.  For his part, the mage looked bored and uninterested in the damage he'd caused.  When another wharfman charged at him, a gaffer hook in his hands and murder in his eyes, the mage flicked a finger, sending the man reeling.
Almost unnoticed amongst the chaos was a land lamprey, who'd slipped up to finish off the carnage that the accident had produced.

This week's piece is another tiny sculpture, done on the top of a lip balm lid -- the base is around 1/4".  It's another lumpy piece involving a severed hand, which is the sort of rut I wasn't expecting to get into. . . I guess those are the breaks.

Fairly simple and not stretching much here, though I do like the texture on the fin, and the miniscule teeth came out reasonably well.
