Undead parrot:
Hardtack Rutiger

[Continued from the undead pirate page. . . .]

"This is great," said Stipple, almost running to each new sight the Unsleeping Reaver pointed out on the ghost ship.  Erodon stayed a bit back, looking a little seasick despite the fact that the waters were calm and the vessel was docked.

"And here of course is me first mate, Hardtack Rutiger," said the Reaver, gesturing with his rusty cutlass towards a shabby, skull-headed bird.

"Rawk!" said Rutiger.

"Pleased to meet you," said Stipple.  The parrot balanced carefully on his pegleg, stretching out his wings, and proferred his whole foot for the halfling to shake.

"Gwark!" said Rutiger.

"He's been at my side for lo these many centuries," said the hollow-voiced Reaver.

"Snark!" said Rutiger.

"A truer friend I've never had."

"Erk!" said Rutiger.  "Can we eat the elf?"

The undead pirate needed a companion, so I decided to sculpt him an undead parrot pal.  I started out sculpting half his body on the top of a lip balm lid.  When that had cured, I inserted a small piece of wire for an armature and sculpted the other half of the body.  Finally, I set the wire into a Games Workshop treasure chest and finished out the parrot.

I figured his base should partly match that of his pirate friend, so I sculpted some planks onto a GW base.  (I forgot to take pictures of the completed green, so the above is as good as it gets.

When it came time to paint the little guy, I decided he should be a blue and gold macaw, in order to properly clash with his undead leader.  I did a bit of research online before putting down the scheme -- I really need to do that more often, but I don't paint that many real-world creatures.

Both of these guys are going up on eBay pretty soon, so keep an eye out.  They're also on CMON.
